Dr. Zachary Powell
Dr. Zach Powell grew up near Lake Lanier in north Georgia and earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Zoology and Biology from the University of Georgia. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry (now the Dental College of Georgia) with his Doctor of Dental Medicine and has practiced general dentistry for 25 years.
Deeply dedicated to his profession, Dr Powell served as the 2022 President of the Georgia Dental Association, representing over 4000 dentists. Additionally, he serves on the Georgia Delegation to the American Dental Association and has held numerous local, state, regional, and national positions in organized dentistry.
He has been named by a multitude of his peers as an Honorary Fellow with the Georgia Dental Association (2011), the Pierre Fauchard Academy (2014), and the American College of Dentists (2023). He has been named to the University of Georgia’s Bulldog 100 three times. In 2023, he was appointed adjunct faculty at the Dental College of Georgia. He is a member of the esteemed Hinman Dental Society and has served on the Dental Advisory Board of Affinity Bank for nearly two decades.
Dr. Powell is the CEO and Chief Dental Clinician of The Georgia Smile Group, which has owned and managed 18 practices throughout the state. He has enjoyed treating patients of all ages, from all walks of life, all over the great state of Georgia, and is deeply committed to patient advocacy, especially for seniors and children. He has completed multiple programs in advanced dental implant restoration and authored numerous articles and presentations on the profession.
Dr. Powell is married to his college sweetheart, <span class="il">Elizabeth</span>, who serves as the COO of the Georgia Smile Group. They have two children, Anna Jane, an accountant, and Zachary, a pre-dental student at UGA. Dr Powell owns a commercial farm in Screven, Georgia, and enjoys hunting, fishing, agriculture, boating, old cars, and spending time with his family cheering on the Dawgs.
